چکیده
We experimentally show that when higher-order optical vortices generated by a system of dielectric wedges are subjected to focusing they do not lose their structural stability.

Generation of higher-order optical vortices by a dielectric wedge.
Diffraction of a Gaussian beam with a system of successively located optical wedges is considered. It is shown that the system is able to form higher-order optical vortices.
متن کاملFocusing and correlation properties of white-light optical vortices.
We generate double-charge white-light optical vortices by sending a circularly polarized partially incoherent light through an uniaxial crystal. We show that the generated polichromatic vortices are structurally stable, and their correlation properties can be altered by the beam focusing, resulting in changes of the vortex core visibility.
متن کاملCreation of Optical Vortices Using an Adjustable Spiral Phase Plate and Computer-Generated Holograms
An adjustable spiral phase plate and computer-generated holograms were investigated as methods for creating optical vortices. The phase plate was created by cutting a plastic microscope cover slip from a corner to its center and separating the resultant tabs by inserting a uniformly thick wedge between them. The computer-generated holograms were designed by mathematically interfering an oblique...
متن کاملEfficient nonlinear generation of high power, higher order, ultrafast "perfect" vortices in green.
We report on efficient nonlinear generation of ultrafast, higher order "perfect" vortices at the green wavelength. Based on Fourier transformation of the higher order Bessel-Gauss (BG) beam generated through the combination of the spiral phase plate and axicon, we have transformed the Gaussian beam of the ultrafast Yb-fiber laser at 1060 nm into perfect vortices of power 4.4 W and order up to 6...
متن کاملSelf-focusing of ultraintense femtosecond optical vortices in air.
Our experiments show that the critical power for self-focusing collapse of femtosecond vortex beams in air is significantly higher than that of a flattop beam and grows approximately linearly with the vortex order. With less than 10% of initial transverse intensity modulation of the beam profiles, the dominant mode of self-focusing collapse is the azimuthal breakup of the vortex rings into indi...
